In 2017, Nicholas Baker sketched a chair concept and posted it on Instagram - nothing too crazy, just a simple plywood chair. Over the course of the next two years, Baker continued to sketch one unique chair each week, and #nickschairsketches was born. What began as a personal exercise in creativity soon grew into a popular design activity full of stylistic growth and material exploration. Baker garnered an immense following for his ability to challenge the chair archetype and defy preconceived notions of what an object to be rested on could be. Some chairs were simple, some were crazy, and some even got built. In 2021, Baker minted each chair sketch as an NFT with material attributes.
